Description

Coldclear (Zhong Gan Qing Pian) is an all natural Chinese herbal supplement used to enhance the body’s natural defense when the cold or flu is full-blown. It is composed of Chinese herbs that are the best known and the most effective in TCM to remove toxins.

What does it do?
Despite advances in biomedical research, effective treatments of the common cold or flu are still rare. The common cold is so common that it is a leading cause for doctor visits and missed days from school and work. The common cold medicines are not antiviral and just serve to relieve the cold symptoms.

The common cold and flu are caused by viral infections. A common sign indicating the start of the cold or flu is a sore throat. The body then develops running nose, nasal congestion, headache, fever, and cough as symptoms. Along the progression of the infection, our immune system is mobilized to fight the viral infection and eventually wins the battle in most cases. From the perspective of traditonal Chinese medicine (TCM), the cold and flu are invasions of pathogenic influences (toxins). The invasion starts at the surface but proceeds to the interior of the body if it is not halted.

Many Chinese herbs and their combinations are shown useful in relieving toxins in the cold and flu in TCM. For example, At the first sign of the cold or flu, taking Cold Signoff (Yin Qiao Jie Du Pian) may halt the toxins from further penetrating into the body. However, if the cold/flu has progressed into later stages, Cold Signoff may not be strong enough. Here is when Coldclear fits in.

Coldclear is a Guang Ci Tang signature formula designed to help boost our defense when the cold or flu is in full play. It is composed of Chinese herbs that are the best known and the most effective in TCM to remove toxins.

In the formula, Jin Yin Hua (Honeysuckle flower) and Lian Qiao (Forsythia fruit) are a famous pair of Chinese herbs that act together to relieve the exterior of the body from pathogenic invasion, clear heat, and remove toxic substances; Huang Qin (Scutellaria) is a key Chinese herb for clearing heat and draining fire. It works the best when the heat is in the upper respiratory track and the fire is in the lung. All together, the three Chinese herbs forms Shuang Huang Lian, a known antiviral formula in TCM. In laboratory studies, all three herbs are shown to inhibit the growth of a wide spectrum of bacteria and viruses. In one randomized controlled study1, Shuang Huang Lian Pian was used to treat 136 patients who developed in the past 48 hours the common cold of wind-heat type with symptoms shown as fever (less than 38.5), congestion, sore throat, and stuffy nose between the age of 18 to 65. After 3 days of treatment, cold symptoms are either disappeared or significantly improved in 90.5% of patients.

Ban Lan Gen (Isatidis root) and Da Qing Ye (Isatidis leaf) are two other well known Chinese herbs for their detoxifying and heat-draining properties. Their addition to Coldclear further enhances the formula’s action to remove toxins.

Also included in Coldclear are Jie Geng (Platycodon root), a Chinese herb that ventilates the lung and clears phlegm and can be used for coughs caused by various reasons, and Qiang Huo (Notopterygium), which releases the exterior, disperses Cold, and alleviates headache.

What is the formula composition? A proprietary blend of:
Flos Lonicerae Japonicae
Fructus Forsythiae Suspensae
Radix Scutellariae Baicalensis
Radix Isatidis
Folium Isatidis
Radix Platycodi Grandiflori
Rhizoma et Radix Notopterygii

How do I use it?
The standard dosage for Coldclear is 7 tablets taken 2 to 3 times daily with or before meals. One bottle lasts users 10 to 14 days.
The dose may be doubled for a quicker and stronger response as needed (e. g., in an acute phase). Consult your practitioner for precise dosage recommendations based on body weight and other factors.
